A dictionary is a dictionary, right?
There are all kinds of dictionaries, and this one is probably the most complete (short of the Oxford Unabridged Dictionary, anyhow), and therefore the most useful to a professional writer.
This one outdoes the Oxford Unabridged in one way anyhow; it is more current. The Oxford one was published in 1989. while the most recent Merriam-Webster's Collegiate Dictionary is from 2003. There's a lot of new terminology in there.
Merriam-Webster is great for adding new words regularly, which is a big help. How else are you going to deal with some of that unfamiliar terminology a writer comes across regularly.
There's really not much more to be said in a review of a dictionary beyond the fact that it's a vital tool for a writer. If not this dictionary, get some other good dictionary.
